Drawbacks

I figured I'd start with the drawbacks of concealed handguns first. I have been researching on what would be considered negative to other people out there. According to Ardie Claveria some downfalls to concealed weapons are:
  • your handgun may be taken away from you & possibly used against you
  • if you're not skilled at shooting a handgun you could miss & hit a bystander (still at fault legally & can get in trouble)
On http://concealedguns.procon.org/ it says some other disadvantages:
  1. Carrying a concealed handgun could increase the chances of a confrontation escalating and turning lethal
  2. Chances of a handgun being used inappropriately increase when normally responsible adults are intoxicated, tired, afraid, or untrained in conflict resolution
  3. Criminals are more likely to arm themselves with firearms if they suspect that victims may also be armed
  4. Responsible adults with concealed handguns make it more difficult for police to distinguish criminals from ordinary citizens and to identify perpetrators during a shooting
  5. Concealed handguns are reported to scare other people & make them feel less safe
I personally don't agree with all of these reasons being actual disadvantages, but I'm trying to look at both sides of the spectrum when it comes to concealing handguns. Everything isn't black & white though. You have to take these in for yourself & see what you believe.
